Congratulations, The Outstanding Project Award for the #NoPlasticCampaign from #rotaryclub #Calcuttacentenary one of our #EndPlasticSoup #ambassadorclubs #india #d3291. The award was presented by the district governor #ayaagerwal.

And we got this wonderfull message from #chirabratamajumder "Hello Members of EPS Ambassador Clubs.. I would like to dedicate this Award to Gert-Jan, Wendela and Team.. as our End Plastic Soup Initiative have been awarded the Outstanding Project Award...for No Plastic Campaign....We have some plans for advocacy for promoting End Plastic Soup on Sep 27th which is World River Day. And we would promote to make the River Ganga clean and free from Plastic....."

On the World Cleanup Day yesterday, Sotra Rotary arranged the fifth cleanup action in our adopted bay. As before, most of the plastic originates from ropes and fishing nets from fisheries and aquaculture and other industrial packaging. The western coast of Norway, with its skerries and fjords acts as a comb for astray plastic coming with the gulf stream. This time we picked out three items where we will write to the original producer and urge them to consider more sustainable alterantives. One interesting find: A recirculated plastic bag with the inscription (Shortened and translated): "This bag is made from recirculated plastic, of which 10% is ocean plastic from Norway" - Very nice that it is recirculated, but not so nice that it ends up in the ocean once again!
